Butter London, HRH and Lovely Jubbly

Ello Ello!

Butter London is one of my fave polish companies, so I was so excited to get 2 of them in my 'special care package' from the lovely Amanda from Amandalandish and Nory from Fierce Makeup and Nails.  Thank you again girls!

HRH (Her Royal Highness) is the most beautiful 'proper purple' (love their definitions!)  It applied like butter (hehe), opaque in one coat, but of course I used two for good measure.

I used Lovely Jubbly on my ring finger first, I love adding a good glitter to an accent nail.  A little bit of bling, but not overwhelming.

Lovely Jubbly is so densely packed with glitter than besides my ring finger, I only used one coat! I love when you don't have to build up a glitter. Butter London describes Lovely Jubbly as a vibrant magenta flecked with red, blue and gold micro-particles.

Twinsie Tuesday, Oldest Polish

Hello hello!

We are showing our oldest polish this week on Twinsie Tuesday.

Pop Apricot by Rimmel London is my oldest polish that I own right now.  I've had this one for about 7 or 8 years I believe.  It is such a fun, fresh color, I would totally pick this up again if I ever saw it.  Lovely little flakies in there, that 8 years ago, I didn't even know what flakies were!  I would have said sparkles probably!

I even used an old picture!  From about a year ago!  My nails have changed quite a bit!

Take a peek at the other Twinsie's oldest polish!

Barielle New York Style Fall/Winter Collection 2012

Hello, hello!

I picked up the New York Style Fall/Winter Collection 2012 and loved every single color!  I am so impressed with the formula of Barielle, the lasting power of this polish is fantastic!

First up I have Big Apple Red to show you.  This is a gorgeous creamy red.  It's very pigmented, so 2 thin coats and it was perfectly opaque.  This is the perfect red to add to your collection.

Central Park is a fabulous creamy green.  I was really surprised by how much I liked this color, I'm not usually a fan of green, but this one felt very chic on.

Fifth Avenue is an amazing bright, creamy coral.  I can never get enough of corals.  I needed 3 thin coats for opacity.  I had so many compliments from people when I wore this, it is very eye catching.

Soho At Night is the perfect creamy, grape purple.  Two thin coats and I was in purple heaven for days!

Greenwich Village At Dawn is a lovely dusty rose pink with green shimmer.  Yes you read that right, green shimmer!  I love a classic nude anytime, and the shimmer was so fun and unexpected in this polish.  I wore this for 5 days!

The shimmer was easily seen on the nail, but I had a hard time capturing it on camera.  It IS there and it is fabulous!

Which one is your favorite?

Stamping Plate from Born Pretty Store, Review

I have been wanting some new stamping plates for a while now, so when Born Pretty Store said I could choose anything from their online store, I knew right away what I wanted!

I chose the  42 Cute Patterns Quadrant Nail Art Stamp Plate CK-02, and it only took about 2 weeks to get to me (that is really great considering Canadian Customs can be time consuming!)  I was so excited to try out the 42 designs on the plate. They are so detailed and crisp.  The first one I tried are these cute little randomly placed triangles.

I have really long nail beds so some of the designs didn't fit on my nail in one go.  I just lined it up and did a seperate stamp for each nail.

You can buy the stamping plate from Born Pretty Store for $8.53, and they offer free world wide shipping!  It is sooo worth it!

If you are going to get something from Born Pretty Store, please use my coupon code KSL91 below for 10% off your order.  They have some awesome stuff!

Twinsie Tuesday, Thanksgiving Mani

We are celebrating American Thanksgiving this week at Twinsie Tuesday.  Us Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October.  I love Turkey Day!

I knew I couldn't do a turkey on my nail, so I did a simple top hat that I saw a turkey wearing on a cartoon pic!  I was considering saying that my 9 year daughter did the hat for me, but that would be an insult to her cuz she is actually a great little artist!

I used Finger Paints, Tangerine Tint.  I am all over this deep tangerine color right now!  It would be great in Summer, but still suits the Fall as it reminds me of the changing leaves.  It is a crelly (creme/jelly) that with 2 coats still showed some vnl.  I don't mind at all.

Looking forward to seeing what the other Twinsie's have done this week!

Strawberry Fields

Strawberry Fields by China Glaze is a gorgeous hot pink with lots of orange shimmer.  My pictures show the polish much more coral than it actually is, it just would not cooperate and catch that beautiful pink color.

This next pic shows it a bit more pink.

Twinsie Tuesday, 3D Nail Art

I knew right away when I read this week's Twinsie Tuesday prompt for 3D nail art, that I wanted to do another bead mani.  I love these things, they are so impractical, but very cute for the 30 minutes that they last!

I picked up these beads at my local dollar store.  They come with 8 colors and this set was all sheer!  I used the iridescent clear ones for this mani, with a coat of SH Whirlwind White underneath.  The pretty blue shimmer polish is a Sally's mini, and it doesn't have the name listed on the bottle.  Guess I'll have to go back to the store to remember the name.

Cannot wait to see what my other twinsie's are rocking this week!  Check them out...

Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!

Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! is from the OPI Germany Collection.  A deep, grey creme with green undertones, this was so rich and felt very chic.  Amanda from Amandalandish and Nory from Fierce Makeup and Nails sent it to me in a care-package.  Love those girls!

On my accent finger, I'm wearing OPI, Bring on the Bling from the Burlesque Collection.  The amount of glitter with just one swipe of this polish is fabulous!  BOTB flashes mostly gold on the nail, but there are lots of green, orange, light blue, silver and pink glitters in there too.

November 8th for No H8: Eradicate Hate in the Nail Polish Blogging Community

I am so happy to be a part of November 8th No H8!

Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.

Most of us are thankfully residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color and even to our polish application techniques. To look down on anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.

Twinsie Tuesday, Canadian Edition

Hello and welcome to Twinsie Tuesday, the Canadian Edition!

The majority of our lovely Twinsie girls live in America (except for Elizabeth I believe, who is living in Hong Kong!) but there are 2 twinsies, myself and Ash from Art Evolve, who live in Canada.  So this week, we are being honored!  We split the group in two, and Ash and I got to give our group a Canadian Theme to use as their mani inspiration.

For my group I chose the WOODLANDS.  I live in British Columbia, Canada, and we have beautiful forests and lakes all around us, as well as the Rocky Mountains.  We are also known for our wildlife, which include Canadian Geese, beavers, moose, eagles, and salmon, to name the most popular.  So I thought a Woodland theme would give my Twinsie's lots of great inspiration and ideas!

I have seen Sammy from The Nailasaurus do a lovely feather mani, and thought it would be fitting for this weeks theme.  We have loads and loads of Canadian Geese around us, so my mani is inspired by them.  I should have used a white or black polish as my background color, as that is what color the Canadian Goose is, but.....pink is prettier!

The pink polish is Finger Paints Pink Imagination.  A lovely soft bubblegum pink with a pretty white shimmer.  I bought the pack of feathers a long time ago from Walmart in the craft aisle.  I used Sammys great tutorial, and it worked like a charm.

I'm so excited to see what my group came up with using the Woodland theme.  Please check out all the Twinsie's to see Ash's theme!

Keep Up the Flame, Maybelline Swatch

Another Maybelline Color Show polish to show you today.

This gorgeous red jelly/cream is going to be my go-to Christmas red.  The formula was amazing, 2 coats that went on like butter.  Smooth and shiny, no need for a top coat.

This next photo is in the sun and is the most color accurate.

I picked up this next glitter polish at an earring store called Ardene (like a Claire's).  They have a few fun polishes there, this one is called Queen of Hearts.  Small red glitter with big red hexes, again, perfect for Christmas.
